Mentor Program

SSE welcomes all eligible community members as mentors. Mentors are volunteers from the community who serve as role models, provide individual attention, give academic support and enjoy working with elementary age students. Mentors must apply and complete a background check through the Glynn County Human Resources Department. The mentor/volunteer application is linked below. Please call 912-267-4100 and ask for Human Resources when returning your application.

All approved mentors will then be assigned a student to work with on a one-on-one basis. All students are recommended by teachers, administration, and/or parents. Each student must have parental permission to participate in the mentor program.

Mentor and student will meet once a week for 30-40 minutes during lunch or specials, but students may not be pulled at the same time each week. Mentors are encouraged to discuss school work, social life and activities the student may be interested in while eating lunch, visiting the media center, playing a game, using the computer or simply talk.

We currently have a great group of mentors and welcome any and all who are interested!
