TOTY Spotlight: Aimee Stewart

Throughout the month of November, we will be introducing you to the 2022-2023 Glynn County Teachers of the Year.

Aimee Stewart was named Teacher of the Year at St. Simons Elementary School.  Here are some awesome things you should know.

Family: I have three daughters who also went to school at SSE.  My oldest daughter, Callie, graduated from Georgia Southern University and is currently in graduate school.  I also have twin daughters, Emmaline and Georgia, who are in their sophomore year at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!).

What  courses have you taught? This is my 27th year as a teacher! I have taught in Glynn County Schools for 24 of those years and I have been teaching at St. St. Simons Elementary for 19 years!  I have spent most of those years teaching 2nd grade but also taught Kindergarten and Prek at St. Simons Elementary.  I absolutely love my school!

What is your greatest teaching memory? When I think about my "greatest teaching memory," my brain overflows with thoughts. As a teacher, I think my greatest memory changes from year to year and even day to day. There are so many moments in a day and children in a year that make a huge impact on me, my teaching style, and my strategies.  I think the past 26 years have flown by because of all those great moments.
